    • DISTILLERY LES 1309 IN SIGOGNE, BETWEEN JARNAC AND COGNAC

Discover the Distillerie les 1309 in Sigogne, a family estate near Jarnac and Cognac, offering tours, Cognac, Pineau des Charentes and immersion in an authentic Charente vineyard.

History and identity of the distillery

The Distillerie les 1309 is located in Sigogne, just 6 minutes from Jarnac and 15 minutes from Cognac, in the heart of a region renowned for the quality of its Cognac vineyards. Founded by Jérôme Vrignaud, the distillery continues a lineage of winemakers whose expertise has been passed down for three generations. The name “1309” refers to the birth years of the founder's children and symbolizes the importance of family heritage in the management of the estate.

The estate showcases production rooted in Charente tradition while incorporating contemporary processes, allowing for the creation of Cognac and Pineau des Charentes whose quality relies on controlled aging. The approach adopted aims to preserve the authenticity of the spirits and ensure continuity between the past, present, and future directions of winemaking.

A family-run vineyard focused on quality

The Distillerie les 1309 is situated around meticulously maintained plots of land. The vineyard is the first step in the process, with rigorous vine management, careful monitoring of ripeness, and winemaking adapted to the specific requirements of Charente spirits. The winery, designed to optimize the quality of the musts and wines destined for distillation, reflects a commitment to precisely structuring each stage.

The estate has received numerous awards at the Saveurs Nouvelle-Aquitaine competition and the French Drink Awards, distinctions that confirm the consistent quality of its products. These awards highlight the expertise and commitment demonstrated in maintaining a high level of quality in each vintage.

      Products resulting from recognized expertise

The spirits produced at Distillerie les 1309 include several iconic references: Cognac XO, Cognac VSOP, Cognac VS, Très Vieux Pineau, Pineau Blanc, and Pineau Rouge. Each product is the result of meticulous work, from vineyard maintenance to aging in the cellars. Distillation, carried out according to traditional Charente methods, enhances the aromatic finesse and structure sought in each eau-de-vie.

The old cellars house the casks in which the Cognac and Pineau des Charentes slowly mature, while more recent facilities, such as Renclos, demonstrate an openness to innovative practices integrating contemporary issues: safety, process control, attention to the environment and energy optimization.

An immersive visit to the heart of the Charente vineyards

A visit to the 1309 Distillery offers a comprehensive overview of the entire process, from vine to bottle. It includes a presentation of the vineyard, a tour of the winemaking cellar, a visit to the distillery, and access to the cellars dedicated to aging the spirits. This tour provides a complete picture of the work involved in producing Cognac and Pineau des Charentes that respect the unique character of the terroir.

The visit, lasting approximately 1 hour 30 minutes, is free upon reservation and is aimed at both spirits enthusiasts and visitors wishing to better understand the organization of a family wine estate in Charente.

A visit to the 1309 distillery for a group of about fifteen people. Jérôme gave us a warm welcome and listened attentively, sharing his passion and professionalism with us. A beautiful family-run distillery well worth discovering. The products are excellent, both the cognac and the pineau. The visit was combined with a meal at the Auberge des Fins Bois (Rouillac). It was a winning combination. The 1309 Distillery deserves to be known and visited.
