Saint-Simon, a charming village on the banks of the Charente, offers a complete change of scenery with a gabarre trip. Also known as a gabarrier village, it is renowned for its history of inland waterway transport, and boasts a museum, a tourist trail and numerous graffiti carved in stone for you to discover during your visit. You can also enjoy a 1.5-hour stroll along the Charente river. Don't forget to admire the 12th-century church of Saint-Sigismund, with its Romanesque architecture, before heading off for a stroll along the paths.
