L'abri de la Chaire-à-Calvin Archaeological sites in Mouthiers-sur-Boëme

The site is incredible, dating back to the Upper Paleolithic period. Discovered 10 km from Angoulême, this rock shelter features a 3 m-long sculpted frieze, decorated with 3 animal figures. Accessible to the public, an interpretation table at the entrance explains the significance of the frieze, while furniture and a few sculpted blocks can be viewed at the Musée d'Angoulême.
