    • Maison MARTELL EN CHARENTE: TOURS, EXPERTISE AND TASTINGS IN COGNAC

Visits, tastings and expertise at Martell in Cognac, Charente. Discover the history, the cellars, the visitor experiences and the surrounding tourist attractions.

      General overview of Martell

The Martell house is located in Cognac, in the heart of the Charente region, and embodies one of the historical benchmarks of the cognac world. Founded in 1715 by Jean Martell, the House is recognized as the oldest of the great cognac houses. For over three centuries, Martell has cultivated expertise passed down from generation to generation, based in particular on the art of blending and a constant attention to the expression of the terroir.

The historic Martell house site in Cognac welcomes visitors to an architectural ensemble that combines heritage and patrimony with contemporary spaces dedicated to discovery and tasting.

History and heritage of the House of Martell

The history of Martell begins in the early 18th century, amidst the growth of the Charente brandy trade. The house quickly distinguished itself through a rigorous approach to distillation and aging, as well as an international outlook.

Over the centuries, Martell has forged an identity based on elegance, refinement, and aromatic precision. The role of the Cellar Master, passed down through nine generations, remains central to the continuity of the Martell style. The house's historic cellars bear witness to this expertise, where time is a key element.

Well, Martell Cognac was an exquisite surprise. We went for the visitor tour where we had a beautiful one hour guided tour of the Cognac House (one of the oldest in the region). We ended the tour with a wonderful tasting with Chocolate pairing. It was really a wonderful tour. Much recommended. Enjoy the Cordon Bleu...
