Sample the delicacies of Angoulême

A visit to Angoulême wouldn't be complete without savoring its local specialties. Among the must-try delicacies are the Marguerites d'Angoulême, distinguished by their bittersweet dark chocolate, milk chocolate, or white chocolate flavored with candied orange peel. Jean-Christophe Crosnier, one of France's finest chocolatiers, carries on this tradition at the Duceau chocolate shop, founded in the 18th century. The shop, decorated with period paintings and Louis XVI woodwork, is a true feast for the eyes and the palate.

For a coffee break, head to Biscuiterie Lolmède. Founded in 1889 by Édouard Lolmède, this establishment is famous for its whole almond macarons. Unlike traditional macarons, these soft and flavorful treats have delighted gourmets for generations. With over 30 varieties, these macarons are made using time-honored artisanal methods, each biscuit being molded by hand.
